Tebay Lake Fly-In Kayaking – New for 2019!
Difficulty: All ages & abilities welcome!
Dates: Daily from June 1st to September 3rd
If you only have a few days to spend in Wrangell-St. Elias, but would still like to experience a bush plane flight, and remote backcountry adventure, then the Tebay Lake Fly-In Kayaking is the perfect fit!
Start your day off with a beautiful bush plane flight, viewing the tiny town of McCarthy from the air, as you bank and turn over its adjacent glaciers and rivers. Landing at a deep blue alpine lake, surrounded by rolling meadows of alpine tundra, you have the whole day to explore! You and your guide can inflate the kayaks, and begin your adventure by paddling through the turquoise waters, exploring the shoreline, or small islands that dot the lake’s surface. After a relaxing lunch on the shores of the lake, you may decide to set off on foot, taking a casual hike to lovely rapids.
Great for families or travelers who are interested in both paddling and hiking, this fly-in option is a great way to explore the remoteness of Wrangell-St. Elias in one fun-filled day!
- Paddling a pristine alpine lake
- Impressive views of the Chugach Mountains
- Exploring the remote Alaskan wilderness
- Two bush plane flights in the same day!
